Hawthorne, Nathaniel (1804-1864) — of Concord, Middlesex County, Mass. Born in Salem, Essex County, Mass., July 4, 1804. Famed novelist and short story writer; U.S. Consul in Liverpool, 1853-57. Died in Plymouth, Grafton County, N.H., May 19, 1864. Interment at Sleepy Hollow Cemetery, Concord, Mass.
