Morton, Marcus (1819-1891) — of Andover, Essex County,
Mass. Born in Taunton, Bristol County, Mass., April 8, 1819. Son of Marcus Morton (1784-1864). Lawyer; delegate to
Massachusetts state constitutional convention, 1853; member of Massachusetts state house of representatives, 1858;
superior court judge in Massachusetts, 1858-69; justice of Massachusetts state supreme court, 1869-90; resigned
1890; chief justice of Massachusetts supreme judicial court, 1882-90. Died in Andover, Essex County, Mass., February
10, 1891.
