Additional information

This cemetery is located north of Earle at what is now known as Milam Road in the Joyland community, on the west bank of the Tyronza River.  The cemetery is approximately 160 yards off of Highway 149 and is visible from the highway.

According to the USGS mapping service, this is the site of the historical King Solomon Church which is no longer in existence. This cemetery remains active with burials noted as late as 1993.

A second cemetery is located about ˝ mile north of this one on Highway 149, on the right side of the highway. This cemetery is believed to be that of Liberty Church.  The church no longer exists and although stones were once visible in this area, it doesn’t appear that any are remaining.

The cemetery is badly overgrown with evidence of numerous unmarked graves.  At this time, a swath has been mowed along the west side of the cemetery with a second swath through the center to the grave of James Vann, Jr. The accessible stones were read, with several other stones visible in the distance, beneath the heavy undergrowth. Due to the condition of the cemetery and the time of year, I did not attempt to access the other stones. Hopefully, these other stones can be read when weather permits.

The following stones were read:

BLACK, Claudie, born Mar 7, 1892, died Nov 27, 1966

Arkansas PVT US Army World War I
