Tanis

An exotic name suggesting Spanish or even Egyptian roots. The patriarch is believed to have come from the river Thames Valley in Sussex to the Netherlands. Having moved very little - there is a Vlissingen line and some moved to work on the island of Texel and in the polders of Noord-Holland - but most are still found in Ouddorp today. Also see the variant Taen.
