Elizabeth Teeple Cox b. 1808
William Cox b. 1797
These two pictures are my Great Great Grandfather and Mother from a newspaper article
written about early pioneers of the New London, Mount Pleasant Area of Henry County,
Iowa. William fought in the War of 1812 under Captain Levi at Fort Erie. He comes from
the family of James Cock that came to the New World in the 1600's. He met Elizabeth
Teeple in Canada. They left Canada and went on to Liverpool, Columbiana County, Ohio,
where my Grandmother, Martha Cox was born. They stayed there until 1840 when they
removed to Henry County. They are both buried in the Burges Cemetery in Mount
Pleasant.
