All rights reserved. ************************************************************************************************ Yerger-Reid Wedding - Madison Parish, Louisiana From Tallulah Madison Journal May 1, 1915 YERGER-REID A beautiful Church wedding of social prominence occurred at the Methodist Episcopal Church on the 28th day of April, Reverend V. D. Skipper officiating, Mr. John E. Yerger and Miss Mary Lucille Ried were the contracting parties. The church was beautifully decorated, and was filled to overflowing by the friends of the contracting parties and gave attestation to the popularity of the young couple. Before the ceremony began Miss Virginia Robertson sang beautifully "At Dawning," Miss Annette Beers presiding at the organ. During the ceremony Miss Beers played with gently pathos "A Dream" accompanied on the violin by Mr. W. H. Harvey, Jr. When the signal was given of the approaching of the bridal party the wedding march by Mendelssohn was beautifully executed by Miss Beers. The bridal party entered in the following order: First came J. Robert Ried, little brother of the bride, the ushers Messrs. Joshua J. Brown and Willie A. Gilpin friends of the groom, then followed the groom and his, best man Mr. E. B. Nelson, then a came Miss Helen Ried, sister of the bride, followed by Matron of Honor, Mrs. Jessie Y. Bonney, sister of the groom, followed by the pretty little flower girl Mary Louise Yerger, neice of the groom, who was lovely in a hand embroidered langerie dress with pink trimming and a lace hat with pink ribbon streamers. She scattered rose leaves from her basket for the beautiful young bride to walk upon. The lovely bride entered leaning on the arm, of her father, Mr. F. Howard Ried. The bride's dress was white chamous with long train, the bridal veil reaching the length of the train, trimmed with orange blossoms; she carried a bouquet of brides roses and lillies of valley. The maid of honor was lovely in a costume of green silk accordion pleatted, carrying a bouquet of pink carnations. The matron of honor wore a hand embroidered white grandmothers swiss and carried a bouquet of pink carnations. The ceremony was impressively said by Rev. V. D. Skipper. After the ceremony a reception was held at Rosedale Farm the home of the bride, a delightful two course luncheon was served. The ceremony occurred at half past five. The young couple departed on the seven fifty-eight train for New Orleans and other points after which they will be at home with their many friends. The presents given to the young couple were numerous, beautiful and elaborate including, silver, cut glass, band painted china, a handsome set of parlor furniture a set of mission furniture for a libary and beautiful hand work of every description and kind. The wedding was one of the largest and most beautiful which has over occurred in Tallulah. Some of the out of town guests were: Mr. C. D. Yerger, and daughter, Mrs. Authur Conway, Mrs. J. Y. Bonney, Mrs. Louise Yerger and children, Mrs. Ida Hicks, and Miss Mary Lake of Vicksburg; Mr. and Mrs. B. H. Yerger of Shreveport. Mr. and Mrs. Liathan of Memphis. Judge F. X. Ranscell of Lake Providence. Mr. and Mrs. T. P. Kell and Miss Genevieve Smitha of King; Col. and Mrs. F. L. Maxwell, Mr. and Mrs. Geo S. Yerger, Mrs. and Mrs. E. B. Everard, Messrs. Butler Cook and Zack Wardlow of Mound; Mr. and Mrs. R. K. Boney. of Duckport.
