All rights reserved. ************************************************************************************************ Sevier-Boney Wedding - Madison Parish, Louisiana From Tallulah Madison Journal August 11, 1927 POPULAR COUPLE WED (August 3, 1927) A wedding of much interest throughout Madison Parish and vicinity which took place Wednesday afternoon at the Holy Trinity Church, was that of Miss Martha Fontaine Boney to Mr. William Putnam Sevier. The bride was given in marriage by her father, The Rev. McCready of Lake Providence officiating, Mrs. Henry Sevier sang sweetly, "I Love You Truly." The bride entered on the arm of her father and was lovely in a gown of white chiffon and lace. Her tulle veil fell from a band of lace and was caught with cloisters of orange blossoms. She carried a corsage bouquet of white roses and lilies of the valley. Miss Florence Fortner, of Vicksburg, was maid of honor. Her costume was of orchid georgette and lace, an orchid picture hat, trimmed with ribbon and flowers. She carried an arm bouquet of American beauty roses. The children attendants were Misses Nell and Carolyn Coad little daughters of Mr. and Mrs. B. R Coad. Their frocks were pink and orchid organdy. The best man was Mr. John Sevier, cousin of the bridegoom, and the ushers were Mr. Will Adams and Simon LeBlanc. Immediately after the ceremony a reception was held at the home of the bride. Punch was served by Misses Elizabeth Kell, Annie Ward, Emma Louise Sevier and Mrs. Horace Lee. Among the out-of-town guests were: Mr. Owen Hamilton Boney,of Memphis; Miss Ruth Shaw and Mr. Biedenharn, of Vicksburg, Mrs. John Shields, of Jackson; Mr. William Bell and Mr. Robert McGimsey, of Lake Providence; Mrs. George Yerger and Mr. George Yerger, Jr., and Mrs. Maxwell, of Mound. Mr. and Mrs. Sevier left immediately after the reception, for a trip in the Ozarks to be away about two weeks. MISS AGNES SHIELDS ENTERTAINS Miss Agnes Shields entertained very delightfully Thursday afternoon of last week in honor of Miss Martha Boney. After four hands of bridge and dainty refreshments in pink and white, Miss Boney was presented by special delivery a package addressed "Mrs. Will Sevier," which contained the many lovely handkerchiefs. A unique way of cutting the consolation was done by pulling ribbon from the bridal cake. The ribbon titled "Martha" was drawn by Elizabeth Kell. The cake was cut for favors, Miss Emma Louise Sevier won high score, Miss Nan Sevier booby and the bride-to-be was presented lovely pieces of lingerie. Miss Shields had as her guests Mrs. Arch Brown, of Lake Providence; Misses Martha Boney, Elizabeth Kell, Nan Sevier, Annie Ward, Emma Louise Sevier and Mesdames R. K. Boney, T. P. Kell, Will Harvey, Horace Lee and R. C. Gaines, of Tallulah. HONORING MISS BONEY AND MR. SEVIER Mesdames W. H. Pierson and H. W. Lee entertained on last Friday evening at bridge, honoring Miss Martha Boney and Mr. Will Sevier, bride and groom-to-be. The living room was beautifully decorated with bright flowers. Little Geneva Rountree was dressed as Cupid and Georgia Rose Rountree and Master Andrew Sevier representing bride and groom passed tallies to the guests. The guests of the evening were: Mr. and Mrs. W. R. Flippin, Mr. and Mrs. R. R. Taylor, Mr. and Mrs. R. C. Gaines, Mr. and Mrs. R. K. Boney, Mr. and Mrs. W. C. Starrett, Mr. and Mrs. Paul Parra, Mr. and Mrs. W. L. Rountree, Misses Martha Boney, Emma Lou Sevier, Agnes Shields, Elizabeth Kell, Margaret Taylor, Vertner Sevier, Nan Sevier, Annie Ward, Shelby Harvey and Florence Pierson; Messrs. Will Sevier, Mandeville Kell, Will Adams Simon LeBlanc, John Montgomery, Bob Tate, John Sevier, Tom Bomer, W. H. Ward, Jr., and Frank Montgomery. Mrs. Flippin and Mr. Ward were awarded first prizes for the highest score. Mr. Parra the booby and Mrs. Gaines cut the consolation. Miss Martha Boney and Mr. Will Sevier received a lovely gift. The color scheme, green Find white, was carried out in the serving of ice cream and cake.
