All rights reserved. ************************************************************************************************ Fairly-Burkes Wedding - Madison Parish, Louisiana From Tallulah Madison Journal February 9, 1940 Jack Fairly Weds Miss Gladys Burkes Of Jackson, Miss. Jack S. Fairly, sports editor and general reporter for the Vicksburg Herald, and Miss Bessie Gladys Burkes, of Jackson, Miss., were married Friday afternoon at the home of the bride. The Rev. Guy Sigrest, pastor of the Brookhaven Methodist church, preformed the ceremony. Miss Elaine Burkes, sister of the bride, and Mr. W. T. Fairly, Jr., brother of the groom, were the attendants. The wedding was solemnized in the presence of the immediate families and intimate friends of the couple. Immediately after the ceremony the bride and groom left for the gulf coast where they spent a brief honeymoon. On their return to Vicksburg they will be at home in an apartment they have taken on Drummond Street. Mr. Fairly is the son of Mr. and Mrs. W. T. Fairly, former residents of Tallulah, but now residents of Jackson. At one time Mr. Fairly, a graduate of the Louisiana State University school of Journalism, was connected with the Journal here. Mrs. Fairly is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. W. R. Burkes, of Jackson.
