All rights reserved. ************************************************************************************************ Lily Purnell Ziegler - Madison Parish, Louisiana From Tallulah Madison Journal, January 16, 1959 Funeral Services For Mrs. Ziegler Held Here Monday Mrs. Lily Purnell Ziegler died early Sunday morning at her home after a long illness. She would have been 83 years old on February 26th. Mrs. Ziegler was born in a plantation home in LaFlore County near Greenwood, Miss., but moved to Madison Parish with her parents at an early age, when the family made their home at Milliken Bend. Early in her young ladyhood, they moved to Tallulah, where she has since lived. She married Mr. W. D. Ziegler June 3, 1908. They had two children, Mrs. Edwin Regenold and Mr. William Wallace Ziegler. Although confined to her home with illness for several years, Mrs. Ziegler remained civic minded and was interested always in people. In her earlier life she was an integral part of the community, taking part in all civic movements and her church. She was a member of the Methodist Church, Tallulah Book Club and the Madison Parish Garden Club. She was also superintendent of the Methodist Sunday School for 9 years. Mrs. Ziegler is survived by her daughter, Mrs. Edwin Regenold, her son William Wallace Ziegler, three grandchildren, Bill and John Ziegler and Wallis Regenold and three nieces, Mrs. Richard Almond, Miss Lily Purnell of Houston, Texas and Mrs. P. S. Molenaar of Houston, Texas. Pallbearers were: C. C. Adams, Dr. H. S. Provine, Mr. W. Z. Adams, Mr. Lancaster Kell, Mr. Maxwell Yerger, Mr. Walter M. Scott, Jr., Mr. Barton Sevier, Mr. A. H. Willet and W. F. Powell.
