Yerger - Madison Parish, Louisiana From Monroe News-Star (LA), Monday, February 26, 1973 TALLULAH - Funeral services for Rufus T. Yerger, 58, of here were held at 10 a.m. today at the Tallulah Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Nat Heeth officiating. Burial was in Silver Cross Cemetery under direction of Crothers Funeral Home. A lifelong resident of Tallulah, Mr. Yerger died Saturday night at Diamond Island Resort after an unexpected illness. He was a member of the Louisiana State Bar Association, Sixth District Bar Association, Presbyterian Church, a veteran of World War II, and a member of the American Legion. Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Callie Yerger; one son, Rufus Yerger Jr.; two daughters, Mrs. Carolyn Yerger Bishop and Miss Flora Maxwell Yerger of Tallulah; two brothers, Bill Yerger, Tallulah, and Andrew Yerger of Mound; and five grandchildren. The family requested that memorials be given to a favorite charity. Pallbearers will be Elmer Neil Jr., Jim Gilfoil, Dr. George Webb, Billy DeMoss, Racer Holstad, Phillip Scurria Sr., Billy Post and Jake Bryant. Honorary pallbearers are lawyers of E. Carroll, Madison and Tensas Parishes.
