All rights reserved. ************************************************************************************************ Maxwell Yerger - Madison Parish, Louisiana From Tallulah Madison Journal, September 22, 1977 Funeral services for Maxwell Yerger, 75, prominent Tallulah businessman, were held at 4 p.m. Monday at the Trinity Episcopal with the Rev. Joel Treadwell officiating. Burial was in Silver Cross Cemetery under the direction of Crothers Funeral Home. Mr. Yerger died Friday at the Mercy Regional Medical Center at Vicksburg following a short illness. He was a business man in Tallulah for many years. He was a lifelong resident of Tallulah, and president of the Yerger Oil Co. He was past president of Southland Cotton Oil Company, a member of the Rotary Club, director of the Tallulah State Bank, president of the Yerger Investment Company, member of the DKE fraternity; member of the Senior Golf Association of Louisiana and Mississippi; member of Masonic Order no. 308; member and senior warden of the Vestry of the Trinity Episcopal Church. He attended high school at the Lawrenceville Prep in NJ, then attended Tulane and Princeton Universities. Survivors include his widow, Mrs. Josephine Yerger of Tallulah; two sons, Dr. Joseph Williamson Yerger of Tallulah; and Maxwell Yerger Jr., of New Orleans; two brothers, William Yerger Sr., of Tallulah; and Edward Yerger of Mound; two granddaughters and a number of nieces and nephews. Pallbearers were T. A. Bishop, Harvey Mounger, Cliff Adams, W. W. Ziegler, Alfred Jenkins, Kirk Morley, Henry C. Sevier Jr. and Frank Smith. Honorary pallbearers were directors of the Tallulah State Bank, the Vestry of Trinity Episcopal Church; George Kimbrough. O. L. Cook, Harold Davis, Field Montgomery, C. E. Walker, Travis McNeel, W. P. Sevier Jr., Dr. George M. Webb, Dr. Sam Provine, Dr. John R. Shell, Dr. Lucian Ferris, John Neill, and Manfred Gustafson. Masonic rites were observed at the graveside. The family requests that memorials be made to a favorite charity.
