"Jimmy" Yeates - Madison Parish, Louisiana From Tallulah Madison Journal November 10, 1993 Funeral services for Mr. James M. "Jimmy" Yeates, 91, were held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the First United Methodist Church with Rev John Scarf officiating. Burial was in Silver Cross Cemetery under direction of Crothers-Glenwood Funeral Home. Mr. Yeates died Monday in the Mississippi Baptist Medical Center in Jackson after a lengthy illness. He was a native of Weathersby, Miss. and had lived in Tallulah for 65 years. He was a graduate of Mississippi State and was a drum major in the school band. He received his masters degree from Mississippi College and was a Golden Glove champion and pioneer aviator. He was a retired assistant principal at Tallulah High School and was in the education system for 39 years before his retirement. He was a member of First United Methodist Church of Tallulah. Survivors include his wife, Bernice Scott Yeates of Tallulah; three daughters, Kathy Yeates Sloan of Charleston, S.C., Nancilee Yeates Foster of Gulfport, Miss. and Betty Stark Norris of Tallulah; three sons, Billy R. Stark of Lufkin, Tex., Jimmy G. Stark of Rayville and T. Larry Stark of Hawthorne, Fla.; 12 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren. Pallbearers were Clyne Elledge, Charles Roberson, Phillip Crothers, John Earl Martin, Stanley Harmon and Dr. Thomas A. Neumann. Honorary pallbearers were Harry Don Morton, Charlie Arneson, John Monsell, Robert Holstead, Otto Horn, Dr. L. P. Neumann and Dr. Jacob Storey. The family requests that memorials be made to Tallulah Academy or the First United Methodist Church.
