All rights reserved. ************************************************ William "Bill" Abbott Windham - Madison Parish, Louisiana From Monroe News-Star April 27, 2016 William "Bill" Abbott Windham died in his home surrounded by family on Tuesday, April 26, 2016 due to heart failure. He was 84 years old. Mr. Windham was born on May 14, 1931 in Bastrop, LA to his parents Wilburn Clinton Windham and Eleen Blanchard Windham. After spending his childhood and high school years in Georgetown, SC, he served in the U.S. Air Force from 1951-1954 and is a veteran of the Korean Conflict. Mr. Windham graduated from Northeast Louisiana State University with a B.A. in Education and received his Masters Degree in School Administration from the University of Mississippi. Mr. Windham married Patsy Murphy of Tallulah, LA in August of 1956. He worked as a math teacher and assistant principal at Tallulah High School for 9 years before serving as principal of the school from 1968-1978. His passion for education and care for children made him a strong, supportive leader for so many of his students. Mr. Windham was preceded in death by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. W.C. Windham. He is survived by his wife, Patsy Windham; their three children: William Clinton Windham of Shreveport, LA; Todd Windham of Valdosta, GA and Cheryl Lewis of Madison, MS; and their 8 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren. Services will be held at 1 p.m. Friday at United Methodist Church in Tallulah, LA followed by the burial. The family will receive guests from 3pm - 5pm at the Tallulah Country Club. Pallbearers will be Regan Nosser, Hunter Windham, William Windham, Carter Windham, Rob Mahaffey, Drake Adams and Jeremy Foote.
