All rights reserved. ************************************************************************************************ Laverne Whitaker - Madison Parish, Louisiana From Tallulah Madison Journal, July 23, 1981 Services for Mrs. Laverne Whitaker, 65, were held in Parkview Baptist Church with the Rev. Lester Johnson officiating. Burial was in Silver Cross Cemetery under the direction of Crothers Funeral Home. Mrs. Whitaker died Friday in her home near Tallulah after an illness. She was a native of Mississippi, and lived in Madison Parish for 45 years. She was a member of Parkview Baptist Church. Survivors include her husband, Henry Whitaker of Tallulah. four sons, Wesley E. Whitaker, James E. Whitaker and Melvin W. Whitaker, all of Tallulah, and Carlton R. Whitaker of Lafayette; four daughters, Mrs. Dora Evans Keochler of Mont Belvieu, Texas, Mrs. Paula M. Ainsworth and Mrs. Attie Kay Walker, both of Tallulah, and Mrs. Connie Y. Walker of Lafayette; a brother, James E. Parker of Tallulah; her mother, Mary Leatherwood of Tallulah: 20 grandchildren; and a great-grandchild. Pallbearers were Harold Bolton, Glen Sandidge, Richard Marshall, Tommy Jobe, Clifton Johnson and John W. Welch.
