Whitaker died Sunday, July 21, 2002. She was 20. Born in Tallulah, Miss Whitaker graduated in 2000 from Tallulah High School. She was a waitress and would have attended the University of Louisiana at Monroe in the fall. She was a member of First Baptist Church. Survivors include her father, James E. Whitaker of Tallulah; her mother and stepfather, Cynthia A. and Maurice Machen of Tallulah; two sisters, Jenny Catherine Hopkins of Monroe and Ashton Kelsey Machen of Tallulah; two brothers, Jason Kyle Whitaker and Cameron Scott Machen, both of Tallulah; two stepbrothers, Bill Machen of Tallulah and Len Machen of Start, La.; and her grandparents, Gloria Arender and Billy R. Arender, both of Tallulah. Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at First Baptist Church of Tallulah with the Rev. John Rushing officiating. Burial will follow at Silver Cross Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5 until 8 p.m. Wednesday at Crothers-Glenwood Funeral Home. Pallbearers will be Mike Wicker, Vince Stutts, Eric Holloway, Billy White, Ted Hill and Michael Cummins. Honorary pallbearers will be Arch Yerger, Ryan Mills, Ed Mills, Ben Arnold and Benji Brooks.
