Webb - Madison Parish, Louisiana From Tallulah Madison Journal, December 8, 1955 George Webb, Prominent Farmer, Dies Saturday George W. Webb, prominent Tallulah and Madison Parish planter, died early Saturday morning in a Vicksburg hospital after a long illness. He was 76 years old. A native of Covington, Ga., Mr. Webb had been residing in Louisiana since 1920. He had formerly lived in East Carroll parish before moving to Madison Parish. Mr. Webb was a member of the Police Jury of Madison Parish, a Mason, a member of the Episcopal Church and was active in the agricultural work of the parish. He is survived by his widow, Mrs. Ethel Evans Webb, one son, Dr. George M. Webb of Tallulah, a daughter, Miss Margaret Webb of Vicksburg, two brothers, Robert Webb and Charlie Webb, both of Atlanta, Ga., three sisters, Miss Maggie Webb, Miss Anne Webb and Miss Fannie Webb, all of Atlanta, Ga., and three grandchildren, Dianne, Peggy and Patricia Webb, all of Tallulah. Funeral services were held Sunday afternoon at 3:00 o'clock at the Trinity Episcopal Church with the Rev. William S. Spilman, rector, officiating. Burial followed in the Silver Cross Cemetery, with of Crothers Funeral Home in charge of arrangements. Active pallbearers were Rufus Yerger, Bill Yerger, Jim Gilfoil, Frank Thomas, Fred Peterkin, John Carpenter, Don Sevier and R. R. Spigener. Honorary pallbearers were members of the Madison Parish Police Jury.
