Watts Madison Parish, Louisiana From Tallulah Madison Journal January 27, 1950 John Watts Killed In Car Accident; Rites Held Monday Funeral services were held Monday afternoon at 2:30 at the Glenwood Funeral Home, Vicksburg, Miss. for John L. Watts, 54-year-old Vicksburg resident, who was killed in an automobile accident Sunday morning in Jackson, Miss, The Rev, O. L. Chambers, pastor of the Bowmar Avenue Baptist Church officiated, assisted by the Rev. D. Swan Haworth, pastor of ,the First Baptist Church. Interment followed in the Silver Cross Cemetery in Tallulah. Mr. Watts was killed almost instantly early Sunday morning when his car and another vehicle collided in Jackson. He was in Jackson to get his wife, who had been visiting in the home of their son there. Jackson authorities reported that Watts' car was in a collision with another car driven by James B. Pierce of Jackson. Mr. Watts was thrown from his automobile and received fatal head injuries when his head struck the pavement. A native of Sumrall, Miss., Mr. Watts resided fifteen years in Tallulah, where he was employed by the Chicago Mill and Lumber Company. After moving to Vicksburg, he had been shipping clerk for Koestler's Bakery. He is survived .by his wife of Vicksburg, three sons, Edward of Jackson; Harry of Tallulah; and William Watts of Vicksburg; two daughters, Mrs. J. W. Crosby of Tallulah and Mrs. W. W. Ayers of Vicksburg; two brothers, Mack Watts of Memphis and Ras Watts of Sumrall; four sisters, Mrs. Lescar Grady of Canton, Miss.; Mrs. I. J. Williams, Hattiesburg, Miss.; Mrs. John Watts, Mrs. George Herrin, Collins, Miss.
