His sister, Miss Annie Ward, reported that he called her about twelve o'clock and she called a doctor who arrived before he passed away, but death occurred shortly after the doctor arrived. Francis, as he was familiarly known, was a life-long resident of Tallulah, the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Tom Ward, who were the owners for many years of the Crescent Plantation. For a number of years he was an employee of the Delta Cash Wholesale Grocery before this firm went out of business, and later an employee of the Police Jury and the Sheriff's Department. He was an active worker in the Citizen's Council affairs which he managed for quite a while. He worked with the Civil War Centennial Committee and was very much interested in historical research and had accumulated much information and data in this regard. He was a communicant of Trinity Episcopal Church. Funeral services will be held Thursday at 10:00 A. M. at the Trinity Episcopal Church here with the Rev. William Parkerson officiating. Burial will be in the Silver Cross Cemetery under the direction of Cupit-Young Funeral Home. Survivors are his two sisters, Miss Annie Ward and Miss Margaret Ward.
