Towne Sr. - Madison Parish, Louisiana From Tallulah Madison Journal January 20, 1972 Final rites held for E. B. Towne Sr. Ezra B. Towne, lifelong resident of Delta, died Thursday evening at Mercy Hospital at the age of 79. Mr. Towne owned Wilderness Plantation at Delta where he farmed. He was a member of the Madison Parish School Board and a member of Christ Episcopal Church of Vicksburg. He leaves his widow, Mrs. Cary Nell Towne of Delta; two daughters, Mrs. Lael S. Jones of Thibodaux, La. and Mrs. Kenneth King of Delta; three sons, Wiley G. Towne of Delta, William Towne of Kosciusko, Miss. and E. B. Towne, Ir. of Tallulah; nine grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Funeral services were held Saturday at 10:30 a. m. at Glenwood Funeral Chapel in Vicksburg with Father Thomas Delaney, Chaplain of Mercy Hospital, and the Rev. Lael Jones, pastor of the First United Methodist Church of Thibodaux, officiating. Interment followed in Cedar hill Cemetery. Active pallbearers were William Kent, J. O. Beaupre and Claude Brady of Delta; Malcolm Stone, Barton Sevier, Woodrow Cagnolatti and Henry Sevier, Jr., all of Tallulah, and Roy C. Blade of Vicksburg. Honorary pallbearers were Dr. Preston Herring, Dr. Robert Shell. and Dr. Frank McPherson, all of Vicksburg; George Kimbrough, Henry Sevier, Sr., J. G. Wyly, C. E. Hester, M. A. Phillips and Jim Sevier, all of Tallulah, and Andrew Yerger and Ed Yerger of Mound.
