All rights reserved. ************************************************ Robert Leon Tingle Sr. - Madison Parish, Louisiana From Vicksburg Post, August 27, 2004 Robert Leon Tingle Sr. died Thursday, Aug. 26, 2004, at his home. He was 74. A native of Tallulah, Mr. Tingle was the son of the late Henry Walter and Ora Lee Stephens Tingle. He was a longtime resident of Vicksburg and Warren County. He retired from the Air Force in 1967 after 20 years of service. Mr. Tingle worked as a fireman for 10 years with the City of Vicksburg and worked in security and as a fireman for Waterways Experiment Station for 10 years before retiring in 1988. He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 2572, American Legion Post 3 and Lighthouse Baptist Church. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 49 years, Eleanor Tompkins Tingle; six brothers and two sisters. Survivors include four daughters, Gail Moore, Bettye Redditt and Debbie Katzenmeyer, all of Vicksburg, and Jean Mullen of Clinton; two sons, Robert Leon Tingle Jr. of Charleston, S.C., and Jody Tingle of Astoria, Ore.; a sister, Virginia Townsend of Vicksburg; three brothers, Lewis Tingle of Vicksburg, Charles Tingle of Baker, La., and Fred Tingle of Covington, Ga.; 10 grandchildren; a great-grandchild; and nieces, nephews and other relatives. Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Fisher Funeral Home with the Rev. E.L. Sharp, pastor of Lighthouse Baptist Church, officiating. Burial with full military honors will follow at Green Acres Memorial Park. Visitation will be from 5 until 8 tonight at the funeral home. Pallbearers will be members of Keesler Air Force Base in Biloxi. Honorary pallbearers will be members of the VFW Post 2572 and American Legion Post 3.
