Thornton Madison Parish, LA From The Tallulah Madison Journal (LA), November 11, 1938 E. Thornton, 42, of Waverly, was killed instantly when he was struck by a truck driven by Olan Gibson, near Cow Bayou bridge, east of Delhi last Friday night, according to Dr. W. P. Yerger, acting coroner. Thornton was said to have walked into the path of the truck, which was going about 30 miles per hour. Deputy Sheriff S. B. Bettis of Tallulah, was called to the scene. No charges were filed against Gibson. Funeral services for Thornton were held Saturday afternoon at Dunn. Surviving are the widow, three sons, Jess, Bertron and E. T. Jr., and four daughters, Mrs. C. Irby of Delhi; and Misses Elaine and Sarah Thornton both of Waverly.
