Thornton Jr. - Madison Parish, Louisiana From Vicksburg Post August 27, 2009 TALLULAH — Elijah T. Thornton Jr. died Wednesday, Aug. 26, 2009, at River Region Medical Center. He was 78. Mr. Thornton was born in Dubach, La., and had lived his entire life in Madison Parish. He was a retired log scaler for Chicago Mill Lumber Co. and a member of the Jehovah’s Witness faith. Survivors include his wife, Eunice Thornton of Tallulah; two sons, Chris Thornton of Tallulah and Thomas Thornton of Calhoun, La.; two stepsons, James Rinicker and Kenny Rinicker, both of Tallulah; one stepdaughter, Debbie James of Tallulah; two sisters, Mae Ella Irby of Delhi and his twin Sarah Nell Rogers of Hemphill, Texas; 18 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews. Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Parkview Baptist Church in Tallulah. Burial will follow at the Delhi Masonic Cemetery under the direction of Crothers-Glenwood Funeral Home of Tallulah. Visitation will be from 5 until 8 tonight at the funeral home.
