All rights reserved. ************************************************************************************************ Vernon Thompson - Madison Parish, Louisiana From Tallulah Madison Journal March 5, 1965 Services For Vernon Thompson Held Tuesday Mr. Vernon Thompson, died Sunday February, 28, 1965 in a Jackson, Miss. hospital after a long illness. He came to Tallulah in 1922 with his family, from Muskegon, Mich. He was the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. V. R. Thompson, also of Tallulah. He was a veteran of world war one, and was a member of the American Legion and the Methodist Church. He is survived by his devoted wife, Mrs. Elizabeth Thompson, a daughter, Mrs. Robert Burrow of New Orleans, La. and a son Vernon Thompson, Jr. of Tallulah, and three grandchildren. His sister is Mrs. Dave Kaufman of Tallulah, and a brother Arthur Thompson of Canton, Ohio, who recently visited here for several weeks. Funeral services were held from the Chapel in Crothers Funeral Home, with the Rev. Clark Bell officiating, on Tuesday morning at ten o'clock. Interment was in Silver Cross Cemetery. Mr. R. G. Waugh of the Local American Legion conducted the Legion Services at Graveside. Active pallbearers were; George Spinks, Wallace Luckett, Max McDonald, A. M. Raley, J. A. McDonald and Salo Abrahms. Honorary pallbearers were; C. E. Hester, Edgar Brown, Rodney Naylor, Sam Fuller, J. K. Post, T. J. Lott, Jack Ward and L. S. Grace.
