All rights reserved. ************************************************************************************************ Arthur Thigpen - Madison Parish, Louisiana From Tallulah Madison Journal, May 7, 1986 Services for Arthur Thigpen, 53, of Monroe were at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Mulhearn Funeral Home of Monroe with Rev. William L. Smith officiating. Burial was in Mulhearn Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of the funeral home. He died Monday at North Monroe Community Hospital after a long illness. Mr. Thigpen was a native of Vicksburg, resident of Monroe for 15 years, graduate of Tallulah High School where he played in the band and on the football team. He also attended Louisiana Tech at Ruston and Northeast Louisiana University. He was a flight instructor in the U.S. Air Force, veteran of the Korean Conflict, member of AM Vets Club of Monroe, retired from Louisiana State Employment Security, Department of Labor, Field Audit Unit of Monroe. He was also a member of First Baptist Church in Tallulah. Survivors include five daughters, Mitzi Purvis of Tallulah, Tina Craig of Memphis, Polly Hands, Faith Michelle Thigpen, Ann Marie Thigpen, all of Monroe; one step-daughter, Reva Stone of Atlanta, Ga.; mother, Edith Moody Thigpen of Monroe; one grandson. Pallbearers were Roy Purvis, Ronnie Hands, Joe Page, Jim-my Webb, Earnest Decker, Gerald Moody and Don Woods.
