Taylor, Sr - Madison Parish, Louisiana From Tallulah Madison Journal, September 25, 1964 Ralph Taylor Dies Of Gun Shot Wounds Ralph R. Taylor, Sr. of 109 Bell Lane, West Monroe, La., was found by his wife, just after dark, lying on his face, shot, badly beaten and bruised on Sunday night, September 20th. He had heard a noise in the yard and told Mrs. Taylor to turn off all the lights and stay in the house. He went out back to investigate, and shortly Mrs. Taylor heard a gunshot. Mr. Taylor had taken a gun with him, and slipped out the back door. She found him on his face, still alive, and turning him over, rushed back into the house for a wet towel and washed his face, exposing several bruises. She then called her son, Ralph Taylor, Jr. and then the ambulance, but Mr. Taylor was dead on arrival at Glenwood hospital. Funeral services were held Tuesday in Kilpatrick's Funeral Home, at 1 P. M., with the Rev. Hugh Bradshaw officiating. Burial was in Forest Lawn Memorial Cemetery of Pineville, La. and graveside services were held there. Mr. Taylor was a Presbyterian, and he and Mrs. Taylor and sons made their home in Madison Parish on Talla Bena plantation for many years and they have a host of friends here. Mr. Taylor was a native of Denver, Colo., coming to Tallulah after his marriage to Miss Alice McGinnis of Chicago, Ill., about 40 years ago, and lived here until moving to Monroe, some twenty years ago. Deceased is survived by his devoted wife and one son, Ralph Taylor, Jr., of Monroe, La., a sister, Miss Margaret Taylor of Kansas City, Mo., and his mother, Mrs. Eudora Taylor, also of Kansas City. Pallbearers were; Bryan McDuffie, A. L. Griffing, James Rutledge, Percy Ford, Bailey Grant and Carl Brown.
