Taylor Jr., James (Billy) 11/1/1946 - 10/5/2015 Monroe, LA

 

James (Billy) Taylor, Jr. passed away Monday October 5, 2015 in Monroe, LA after a lengthy illness. James (Billy) Taylor, Jr. was born on November 1, 1946 in Tallulah, LA to the Dorothy Lee Taylor and James Taylor, Sr. He was the oldest of 9 children. Billy graduated from Reuben McCall High School in 1965. After graduating from high school he joined the U. S. Army. After being discharged from the Army he relocated to Saginaw, MI and married Mary Gordon. He began working for General Motors and retired in 2002 after 35 years of service. Billy accepted Christ and was baptized on March 28, 2004. He relocated back to Tallulah in 2010. He joined Seven Star Baptist Church where he remained faithful until answering God's call to Glory on October 5, 2015.

 

He leaves to cherish his memories: Two sons, James Taylor III and Donnell Taylor, of Saginaw, MI; One daughter, LaToya Taylor, of Phoenix, AZ; 5 grandchildren, Donnell D. Taylor, Jr., Jakhalia Taylor, James J. Taylor, Makalia Taylor-Spivey of Saginaw, MI and Olandis-James M. Taylor of Phoenix, AZ; 2 great grandchildren; Five sisters, Nancy Williams and Vanessa Lee of Tallulah; Cassandra Lee, Angela Lee-Pope (Cletious), Lenore Lee, all of Seattle, WA; Two brothers, Arthur R. Lee, Tallulah, LA, and Robert Lee, Seattle, WA; and a host of other family and friends. He was predeceased by his parents, James Taylor Sr. and Dorothy Lee Taylor; One brother Karl Lee and one son, Olandis L. Gordon.

 

Funeral services will be held Saturday, October 17, 2015 at the Greater Mount Olive Baptist Church located at 318 North Walnut Street, Tallulah, LA In Lieu of flowers, the family is requesting donations to the Barrow Neurological Foundation/Muhammad Ali Parkinson Center.
