STARRETT PASS AWAY THIS WEEK Both Old Residents of Tallulah, Had Been Ill Some Time Tallulah this week lost two of its oldest residents when Mr. J. V. Sevier and Mr. R. T. Starrett passed away. Both men were near the same age, Mr. Sevier being 69 and Mr. Starrett 67. Mr. Sevier died last Saturday night at his home in Tallulah, and Mr. Starrett died at a sanitarium in Vicksburg. Mr. Starrett Former Lumberman Mr. R. T. Starrett, who died on Tuesday, was a native of Obion, Tenn., and came to Tallulah a number of years ago to engage in the lumber business. For some time he operated a sawmill near Tallulah and later another one at Alexandria, returning here and for some time making his home with his son W. C. Starrett. Mr. Starrett had been in ill health for some time and while his death was somewhat of a shock to friends, was not unexpected. He had been in Vicksburg for several weeks under treatment when death came. Funeral services were conducted Wednesday afternoon from the home of his son by the Rev. W. H. Giles, pastor of the Tallulah Methodist church. Interment followed in the Silver Cross cemetery. Surviving Mr. Starrett are his widow, one son W. C. Starrett, and a grandson Robert Todd, all of Tallulah. He is also survived by other relatives who are residents of his former home in Tennessee.
