All rights reserved. ************************************************************************************************ Mittie Key Speed - Madison Parish, Louisiana From Tallulah Madison Journal, October 6, 1977 Funeral services for Mrs. Mittie Key Speed, 85, of Tallulah, were held Wednesday at Tallulah Methodist Church with the Rev. Xxxx Caraway officiating. Burial was in Silver Cross Cemetery under the direction of Crothers Funeral Home of Tallulah. Mrs. Speed died Monday at a retirement home in Shreveport after a long Illness. She was a retired teacher of 32 years with the Madison Parish school system. Mrs. Speed was the first home economics teacher at Tallulah High School, but she spent most of her years in the 5th grade at Tallulah Elementary School. Mrs. Speed was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution, Louisiana Retired Teachers Association, United Women of the Methodist Church and the First United Methodist Church of Tallulah. Survivors include one daughter, Mrs. E. Forrest King of Shreveport; four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Pallbearers were Harry Placke, Edgar Lancaster Jr., Donald B. Lancaster, Bill Colligan, Robert Speed, Louis Nettles, Myron Bailey and C. L. Richardson. The family requests any planned memorials be made to the Methodist Church or the Madison Parish Hospital.
