Rhynehart Snyder, 86, of 355 Mildred Avenue, Syracuse, died Friday at Francis House, Syracuse, following a lengthy illness. She had worked for precision Castings in Fayetteville for 32 years, retiring in 1983. Leona was predeceased by a daughter, Mary Janet Snyder, and by a granddaughter, Seleana Gamble. Survivors: one son and daughter-in-law, Harold "Chief" and Patricia Snyder of Caballo, NM; three grandchildren, Mary Janet Cabrera of Rome and Mona Volgares and Joseph Gamble, both of Ohio; four great-grandchildren, Nicholas Burke, Vivian Gamble, Tesla Volgares and Jeremiah Volgares;as well as many nieces, nephews, and cousins. Snyder, 86, of 355 Mildred Ave., Syracuse, died Friday, Sept. 7, 2007 at the Francis House, Syracuse, following a lengthy illness. She was born on March 7, 1921 in Opelousas, La., the daughter of James and Mary Williams Rhynehart. Leona spent her early years in Louisiana, later living in Canastota and Chittenango. She had lived in Syracuse since 1962. She had worked for Precision Castings in Fayetteville as an inspector for 32 years, retiring in 1983. Leona enjoyed gardening and cooking. Surviving are her son and daughter-in-law, Harold "Chief" and Patricia Snyder of Cabailo, N.M.; three grandchildren, Mary Janet Cabrera of Rome and Mona Volgares and Joseph Gamble, both of Ohio; four great grandchildren, Nicholas Burke, Vivian Gamble, Tesla Volgares and Jeremiah Volgares; and many nieces, nephews and cousins. Leona was predeceased by a daughter, Mary Janet Snyder, and a granddaughter, Seleana Gamble. Funeral services will be held 10 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 13, 2007, at the J. Homer Ball Funeral Home, Inc, Canastota. The Rev. Kevin J. Corcoran, Pastor of St. Agatha's Church, Canastota, will officiate. Burial will be in Lenox Rural Cemetery, Canastota. Calling hours will be held Wednesday from 6-9 p.m. at the funeral home, 201 James St., Canastota.
