All rights reserved. ************************************************ Zelpha (Zoody) Rushing Smith - Madison Parish, Louisiana From Monroe News Star, April, 2006 Funeral service for Mrs. Zelpha (Zoody) Rushing Smith, 66 of Monroe, LA will be held 11:00AM Monday May 1, 2006, in the chapel of Mulhearn Funeral Home Sterlington Rd. Monroe, LA. With Rev. Huey Diffey officiating. Interment will follow at Mulhearn Memorial Park Cemetery. Mrs. Smith went to be with her Lord on April 28, 2006. She is a graduate of Tallulah High School. She was a paralegal for J. Randolph Smith for over 21 years and retired in 2003. Mrs. Smith was a member of Victory Baptist Church for over 40 years. She loved taking care of people and always tried to make sure if someone was in need that their needs were met. Mrs. Smith was preceded in death by her Parents Roy and Vivian Rushing of Tallulah, LA; brothers, Emmette Edward, Eugene, Kenneth Ray and Roy Lee; Sisters, Evelyn Machen, Rachel Faye Rushing, and Joy Walker, mother and father-in-law, Pete and Annie Lee Smith, Brother-in-law, Thomas Smith; and sister-in-law, Jeri Smith Eldridge. Survivors include her loving and devoted husband of 48 years, Bill Ray Smith; son, Randy Smith and wife, Anita Tyler Smith; daughter, Paula Smith Boney and husband, Bryan; grandchildren, Kyle and Kayla Smith and Brooke Boney all of Monroe LA; step grandchildren, Stefanie Boney Throckmorton and husband, Paul, and Ashley Boney, Brothers, Houston Rushing and wife, Shirley Of Great Falls Mt, Thomas Rushing and wife, Henrietta of Midwest City OK; Ronnie Rushing and wife, Jane of Terry MS; brothers-in-laws, Glen Walker, Jr. Of Monroe, Billy Eldridge, and Grady Smith; Sisters-in-law, Leona Rushing; and Carolyn Paikouski and husband, John; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and many special friends. She had many good friends but two of her best friends and sister by choice Ann Windham and Betty McGough and a special thank you to both for all you have done. Mrs. Smith was extremely proud of her three grandchildren, Kyle, Kayla, and Brooke. She loved to watch them play baseball and softball, She continued to listen to Kyle’s ULM baseball games on her radio when her health declined. Mrs. Smith gave much love in her life to her wonderful husband, children, and grandchildren. She also received much love from them. We also wish to thank her hospice nurses for their love and attention and special thanks to Dr. Keith Calhoun. We thank you so much for the love, care, and concern for Mama and for our family. Pallbearers will be Paul Benjamin, James Mann, Aaron Hebert, Jack Doles, Hugh Dreher, and Roger Fulmer. Honorary pallbearers will be J. Randolph Smith, Judge Glen Strong, and Dr. Keith Calhoun. Visitation will be from 5:00PM until 8:00PM Sunday at Mulhearn Funeral Home. You have earned your angel wings, rejoice in heaven, and watch over us, we will miss you more than anyone can imagine, but we will see you again. All our love goes to you, your family.
