Smith, Parish Resident, Dies On Tuesday Robert James Smith, 66, died Tuesday in a Jackson, Miss., hospital after a long illness. A native of Mangham, La., he had lived in Madison Parish for 17 years. He was engaged in the pulp-wood business prior to his retirement due to ill health. He was a veteran of World War I and a member of Willow Bayou Baptist Church. Funeral services were held Wednesday afternoon at Crothers Funeral Home at four o'clock. Rev. John Scarf officiated. Interment followed in the Gardens of Memory. Mr. Smith is survived by his wife, Mrs. Nannie Smith; a daughter, Mrs. Lois Thames; Three sisters, Mrs. Myrtle Griffin, Barberton, Ohio, Mrs. Mary Bush of Akron, Ohio, and Mrs. Rosa Ferguson of Rayville; two brothers A. C. and Will Smith of Rayville; five grandchildren and five great-grand children.
