Smith - Madison Parish, Louisiana From Tallulah Madison Journal September 2, 1971 Final rites held for G. L. Smith G. L. Smith, 74, of Tallulah, died Sunday in a Vicksburg, Miss. hospital after a long illness. Funeral services were held Tuesday in the chapel of Crothers Funeral Home here. The Rev James L. Adams officiated with burial in Silver Cross Cemetery. Mr. Smith was a native of Mechanicsburg, Miss. and had resided in Tallulah for the past 50 years. He was an entomologist with the U. S. Department of Agriculture in Tallulah before his retirement. He was a member of the Methodist Church and a former Boy Scout leader. Survivors include his widow, Mrs. Irene Smith of Tallulah; a son, George L. Smith of Shreveport; three brothers, Chalmers Smith of Claremore, Okla., Kenneth Smith of Bentonia, Miss. and Keith Smith of Cleveland, Miss.; two sisters, Miss Constance Smith and Mrs. Frank Keen of Bentonia, Miss.; and five grandchildren. Pallbearers were Tommie Cleveland, J. W. Rogillio, Sam Fuller, Robert Moncrief, Jesse Anderson, Cliff Adams, Max McDonald and Manfred Gustafson.
