All rights reserved. ************************************************************************************************ Cornelia Aldridge Smitha - Madison Parish, Louisiana From Tallulah Madison Journal, September 23, 1955 Long Time Local Resident Passes Sunday In Texas Mrs Cornelia Aldridge Smitha, long-time resident of Tallulah, died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Richard Miller and Mr. Miller at Talco, Texas at one o'clock, Sunday, September 18th. Mrs. Smitha had been in apparent good health until a short time before her death. She was 86 years old. She had spent the past winter with her daughter, Mrs. Jack Springer in Truman, Ark. and had just recently visited her other daughter, Mrs. Carl Nadler of Plaquemine, La. Mrs. Smitha was born at White Apple, Miss. and was married to William Buford Smitha on Christmas Day, 1887, at her home at White Apple. The family moved to Tallulah in 1901, and she has continuously lived here since. She was a member of Trinity Episcopal Church, and until lately was an active worker in its activities. She had a wide circle of friends here, acquired during her long residence. Survivors are her three daughters, Mrs. Richard Miller of Talco, Texas, Mrs. Carl Nadler, Sr. of St. Emma Plantation near Plaquemine, La. and Mrs. Jack Springer of Truman, Ark. They and their families were here for the funeral. She had three grandchildren, Dr. Carl Nadler of New Orleans, La., Mr. William Nadler of Plaquemine, La. and Mrs. Murray Spengler of Houston, Texas. She has eight great grandchildren. Her sister, Mrs. Myrtis Anderson of Shreveport, survives her. Services were held from Trinity Church Tuesday afternoon, at three-thirty, with the Rev. William A. Spilman, rector, officiating. Interment was in Silver Cross Cemetery, with the beautiful and impressive ceremony of the church. Pallbearers were Dr. Carl Nadler of New Orleans, La., Mr. William Nadler of Plaquemine, La., Dr. H. S. Provine, Mr. Barton Eisley, Mr. William Purdy and Mr. Don Sevier.
