All rights reserved. ************************************************************************************************ Agnes Harvey Shields - Madison Parish, Louisiana From Tallulah Madison Journal, May 15, 1959 Rites For Mrs. Leo Shields Are Held Thursday Mrs. Leo Shields, who before her marriage was Agnes Rebecca Harvey, passed away early Wednesday morning, at the home of her daughter, Mrs. W. Z. Adams, after a long illness. Mrs. Shields was born December 26, 1873 in Madison Parish, the daughter of Wm. Harvey and Agnes Noland Harvey. Her entire life was spent in Madison Parish with the exception of some thirty years in lower East Carroll. She married Leo Shields in 1899 at the then Scotland plantation home on Bayou drive, now the home of Mr. and Mrs. R. L. Bailey, Jr. They had only one child, Agnes, now Mrs. W. Z. Adams. Mr. Shields was a planter, the family making their home on Roosevelt and Alsatia plantations. Mr. Shields passed away in 1941. For the past five years, Mrs. Shields has made her home with her daughter and family. She was a member of the Roman Catholic Faith, and always a loyal worker for her church. A beloved wife and mother, Mrs. Shields' passing is grieved by a devoted daughter, one brother, William H. Harvey, two sisters, Mrs. E. S. Cook of Jackson, Miss. and Mrs. Fred Johnson of Shreveport, La.; two granddaughters, Mrs. John Weimar of Baton Rouge, La. and Miss Carol Adams of Baton Rouge, and several nieces and nephews. Services were held Thursday morning at 10:00 A. M. from St. Edwards Church, Tallulah, with the Rev. Father William Hopp officiating. Interment was in Silver Cross Cemetery in the family plot under the direction of Crothers Funeral Home. Pallbearers were Arnold Shields, C. C. Adams, A. H. Willett, Curtis Barlow, J. M. Gilfoil, W. H. Harvey, Jr. and Adrian Willett.
