Shepard The sunset for Roy occurred on January 11, 2005 after a year long battle with cancer. Roy was born in Tallulah, Louisiana to Esaw and Priscilla Ross Shepard on June 6, 1943. "Poppy" was cherished and loved, and will be deeply missed by his wife of 42 years Kathy, his children Ty & Yolanda of Sparks, Roddy and Maria of Henderson, Steven of Aubrey, Texas and his seven grandchildren; Natasia, Aaron, Micah, Jamilah, Ty Jr., Jalen, and Olivia. Also left to mourn the loss of their beloved brother are his sisters Clara Shepard, Christiner Robinson, and Lillie Artis. He leaves loving brothers Joe, Esaw, Sam, and Norman along with many nieces, nephews, and numerous other relatives and friends. Roy retired from the U.S. Postal Service in 1999 after 36 years, starting as a Mail Handler and ending his career as a Tour Superintendent. After his retirement he worked for Hertz and the Sparks Tribune. There will be a memorial service Sunday, January 23, 2005 at 3pm at the Second Baptist Church.
