All rights reserved. ************************************************ Vertner Sevier - Madison Parish, Louisiana From Vicksburg Evening Post, August 9, 1943 VERTNER SEVIER, SCHOOL TEACHER OF TALLULAH DIES Tallulah, La. Aug. 9 - Miss Vertner Sevier long a member of the faculty of the Madison Parish schools, died Sunday morning in Vicksburg after a long illness. Born and reared in Tallulah, Miss Sevier spent her entire life here. At the time of her death she had been teaching the third grade in the Tallulah elementary school, although earlier she had held positions in schools of Delta, Waverly and Quebec. Funeral services will be held this afternoon at 5 o'clock at the S. B. Bettis residence with the Rev. J. Dean Maurer of Trinity Episcopal Church, officiating. Internment will be in Silver Cross Cemetery. She is survived by her mother, Mrs. Vert Sevier; a half brother, John Sevier, two half sisters, Mrs. Mason Spencer of Tallulah, and Mrs. Charles Dixon of Philadelphia, Pa. Her cousins will be pallbearers. They are Francis Ward, Dr. Preston Herring, Henry C. Sevier, W. P. Sevier, A. L. Sevier, Albert V. Sevier. The Williams funeral home is in charge.
