Searles - Madison Parish, Louisiana From Tallulah Madison Journal, January 6, 1956 Claude Searles Dies Suddenly Tuesday Night Funeral services for Claude P. Searles, 58, who died suddenly Tuesday night at a Vicksburg hospital after a short illness, were held Wednesday afternoon at 3:30 in Vicksburg. A native of Vicksburg, Mr. Searles moved to Tallulah shortly after Worldd War I, where he entered the cotton business. He was a veteran of World War I and a member of the Episcopal Church. Funeral services were held in Fisher Funeral Chapel with the W. G. Christian, All Saints' College, officiating. Burial followed at the Cedar Hill Cemetery in Vicksburg. Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Cleo J. Searles, Tallulah; a brother, Charles Searles, Panama City, Fla., and a sister, Mrs. Carxxx Mcllhenry, Natchez, Miss. Pallbearers were William Powell, Ed Shamblin, Francis Ward, Gene xxxxy, Van Lear Cowan, Harry xxxx, Jack Fairly and Benny xxxxxx.
