All rights reserved. ************************************************************************************************ Sam Scurria, Sr. - Madison Parish, Louisiana From Tallulah Madison Journal February 15, 1952 Sam Scurria, Sr., Succumbs To Heart Attack Wednesday Sam Scurria, Sr., well known grocer of Tallulah, died suddenly Wednesday morning at 2 o'clock following a heart attack. He was 67 years of age. A native of Italy, Mr. Scurria had been a resident of Madison Parish the past 46 years, and for the past 31 years he had been engaged in the grocery business. He was a member of the St. Edwards Catholic Church of Tallulah. A Rosary service was held Wednesday night at the home, 211 East Green Street. Funeral services were held Thursday morning at 1:30 at the St. Edwards Catholic Church with the Rev. Father H. M. Maure officiating. Burial followed under the direction of Crothers Funeral Home in the Silver Cross Cemetery. Pallbearers were George Speed, Henry C. Sevier, Sr., W. P. Sevier, Jr., H. C. Massey, C. E. Hester, T. A. Cagnolatti, Louis Tonore and W. F. Powell. Besides his wife, Mrs. Marie Scurria, Mr. Scurria is survived by four sons, Phillip, Anthony, Sam and Joe Scurria, all of Tallulah; four daughters, Mrs. Charlie Phillips, Mrs. S. J. Lombardo, Miss Jenny Scurria and Miss Angelina Scurria, all of Tallulah ; nine grandchildren, two brothers, Vincent Scurria, Aberdeen, Miss.; Joe Scurria, Tallulah; one sister, Mrs. Enrico Giardino, Los Angeles, Calif.
