All rights reserved. ************************************************************************************************ Maria Santina Scurria - Madison Parish, Louisiana From Tallulah Madison Journal, November 3, 1961 Funeral Services For Mrs. Maria Santina Scurria Will Be Held Friday At Catholic Church At 10:00 A. M. Funeral services for Mrs. Maria Scurria, 73, widow of a prominent Tallulah merchant, the late Sam Scurria died in a Vicksburg hospital Wednesday morning after a long illness, will be held at 10:00 A. M. today (Friday). A native of Cefalu, Sicily, Mrs. Scurria had resided in Tallulah for about 54 years, where she was a member of St. Edwards Catholic Church and the Ladies' Altar Society. A rosary service was conducted at 7:00 P. M. Thursday in the family residence at 211 East Green Street, with funeral services scheduled for 10:00 A. M. Friday in St. Edwards Catholic Church. The Rev. W. M. Hopp will officiate and interment will follow in Silver Cross Cemetery under the direction of Crothers Funeral Home. Surviving Mrs. Scurria are four sons, Phillip, Sam, Jr., Anthony and Joseph Scurria, all of Tallulah; four daughters, Mrs. Charles Phillips. Mrs. S. J. Lombardo, and the Misses Jennie and Angelina Scurria, also all of Tallulah; two brothers, Lawrence Ilardo, Cefalu, Sicily, and Vincent Ilardo, Shreveport; two sisters, Mrs. Sam Vilardo, Tallulah, and Mrs. Virginia Cerniglia Chicago, Ill., 11 grandchildren and eight great grandchildren. She was also the mother of Lawrence and Vincent Scurria, now deceased. Pallbearers will he Louis Tonore, Mac Cagnolatti, Rufus Yerger, Bill Yerger, William Powell, Buck Weaver, Wallace Luckett, Robert W. Gandy, W. P. Sevier. Jr., Wayne Harkey and Robert A. Holstead.
