All rights reserved. ************************************************************************************************ Charles Wilbur Saunders - Madison Parish, Louisiana From Tallulah Madison Journal July 10, 1926 Mr. Charles Wilbur Saunders, for fifteen years a citizen of Madison Parish died at the home of his son, Mr. E. B. Saunders on Montrose Plantation Tuesday, July 6, after a short illness. He was born November 29, 1839 at Tuscumbia, Alabama and came with his parents to Chicot County, Arkansas in 1848. He was a veteran of the' Civil War being among the first to enlist in his community and was in the battles of Shiloh and Corinth. He was married to Miss Jennie Cordell. Nine children were born to this union, four of whom survive him, C. C. Saunders, Carlisle Ark., Percy Saunders, Greenville, Miss., E. B. Saunders, Tallulah, and Llewellyn Saunders, Luna Landing, Ark. The funeral services were conducted by Rev. Smith of the Presbyterian Church and his body laid to rest in the Silver Cross Cemetery.
