Katherine Virginia Wilkins Rush - Madison Parish, Louisiana

Katherine Virginia Wilkins Rush of Nacogdoches and formerly of Shreveport, Louisiana, went home to be with her Lord on Friday, October 12, 2012, at the age of 88. She was a Baptist, and a current member of First Baptist Church in Nacogdoches. Katherine was born in Monroe, La. April 27, 1924 to Roy Allen Wilkins and Floyce Lucretan Brown Wilkins. She was married May 28, 1948, to Henry Lester Rush. Her husband, her parents and three brothers precede her in death.

She is survived by her son, Henry L. Rush, Jr. and his wife Elisabeth Newman Rush; her daughter, Sandra Kay Rush Stone, and her husband, Jerry Dale Stone. Her three grandchildren are Jaimee Kay Pickens, Katherine Ann Rush and Paul Henry Rush. Also surviving her are her sister, Mary Elizabeth Wilkins Spencer, a brother, Charles E. Wilkins, and many nieces and nephews.

Katherine loved the Lord, and she enjoyed her involvement in her church, and especially her Sunday School Class, being in the Senior Adult Choir and serving in the Prayer Room at First Baptist, Nacogdoches.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, October 15, 2012, at 11 o'clock am at Laird Funeral Home Chapel, 2116 South Street in Nacogdoches, Texas, 75964, with Dr. Alan Reed officiating. Interment will be at Forest Park Cemetery, 3700 St. Vincent Avenue in Shreveport, Louisiana following the service in Nacogdoches. Visitation will be at the funeral home on Sunday, October14, 2012, 5 pm to 7pm in the evening.

Donations may be given in lieu of flowers to the First Baptist Church of Nacogdoches "Together We Build Fund", First Baptist Church, 411 North Street, Nacogdoches, Texas.

The family wishes to express our thanks to Dr. Jeremy Smith and his staff, the Rock Haven Nursing Home staff, and the Lifecare Hospice staff, for their loving and compassionate care of Katherine.
