All rights reserved. ************************************************************************************************ Woodrow "Woody" Roper - Madison Parish, Louisiana From Tallulah Madison Journal, September 9, 1982 Services for Woodrow "Woody" Roper were at 2 p.m. at Tallulah First Baptist Church with the Revs. Xxxxxx Lawrence, Crawford Williams and Don Thornton officiating. Burial was in Silver Cross Cemetery under direction of Crothers Funeral Home. Mr. Roper died Friday at the Xxxxx Hospital in Jackson, Miss. after a short illness. He was a junior at Tallulah Academy, a starting tackle for Tallulah Academy Trojans, a xxxx at the Tallulah Academy, a member of Tallulah First Baptist Church and a resident of Tallulah. Survivors include his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Pete Roper of Tallulah; sister, Dena Roper of Tallulah; maternal grandmother, Mrs. Mary DeMoss of Tallulah; paternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. W. R. Roper of Tallulah; and two great-grandmothers, Mrs. D. L. Roper of Tallulah, Mrs. Pearl Hart of Vidalia. Pallbearers were Billy Lapenas, Edwin Reeves, Ricky Powell, Brad Nolan, Ricky Landrem, Bubba Todd, Leo Regan and Bill Walker. Members and coaches of Tallulah Academy football team served as honorary pallbearers. Memorials may be made to the Woody Roper Scholarship Fund at Tallulah State Bank.
