All rights reserved. ************************************************************************************************** Dorothy Kayser Provine - Madison Parish, Louisiana From Tallulah Madison Journal January 14, 1998 Funeral services for Mrs. Dorothy Kayser Provine, age 84, were held 11 a.m. Friday, Jan. 9, in the chapel of Crothers-Glenwood Funeral Home in Tallulah, with the Rev. Joseph O. Robinson and Rev. Gary Patience officiating. Burial followed in the Silver Cemetery in Tallulah. Mrs. Provine died Tuesday Jan. 6, 1998, in the Madison Hospital in Tallulah after a lengthy illness. She was born in Vicksburg, , and had lived in Tallulah for many years. She was a graduate of Tallulah High School and Baylor University Waco, Texas, with highest honors. After teaching in Marlin, Texas, she was married in 1935 to Dr. Henry Sproles Provine. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Tallulah. She was active in church and community affairs, having been a Sunday school teacher of adults and president of Tallulah Parent Teachers' Association. She was one of the founders of the Good Earth Garden Club and served as its president. She was a member of the Madison Parish School Board for 10 years and for many years served as memorial chairman of the American Cancer Society. She was also active in the beautification of Silver Cross Cemetery. Gardening was her hobby. Survivors include three daughters: Dorothy Sproles Provine of Washington, D.C., Mary Jo Briggs of Jackson, Miss., and Marion Kay Provine of White Bear Lake, Minn.; and five grandsons. Pallbearers were Kirk R. Morley, Frank Ruffer Briggs, John Provine Briggs, Kyle Provine Lehenbauer, Michael Lear Lehenbauer and James Neely Lehenbauer. Crothers-Glenwood Funeral Home of Tallulah was in charge of arrangements.
