All rights reserved. ************************************************************************************************ Eugenia Jones Powell - Madison Parish, LA From Tallulah Madison Journal August 20, 1954 Mrs. Powell Dies In A Vicksburg Hospital Mrs. Eugenia Jones Powell, 45 year old wife of William F. Powell, died in a Vicksburg hospital Friday, August 13, shortly after the lunch hour. Mr. Powell is a leading Tallulah businessman and a member of the Madison Parish Police Jury. After a brief illness, Mrs. Powell had undergone surgery. A native of New Orleans, Mrs. Powell had lived in Tallulah nearly two years. She was well-known and had many friends in the short period in which she lived here. She was formerly employed at Oschner's Clinic in the Crescent City. She was a member of the Episcopal Church. Funeral services were held at the Methodist Church of Tallulah Sun day morning at 9 a. m. with the Rev. William F. Mayo officiating. Interment followed in the Silver Cross Cemetery with Young's Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements. She is survived by her husband, her mother, Mrs. O. F. Jones, a son, Ronald L. Black, New Orleans: and a stepson, Richard Powell of Tallulah. Pallbearers were Maxwell Yerger, E. E. Shamblin, R. L. Bailey, Jr., J E. Neill, Jr., George Kimbrough, M. W. Washburn, W. P. Sevier, Jr. (and others.)
