All rights reserved. ************************************************************************************************ Charles Edward Powell - Madison Parish, Louisiana From Tallulah Madison Journal March 13, 1969 Services Held Recently For Charles Powell Charles Edward Powell died early Thursday morning, March 6, after a brief illness. Mr. Powell was born Feb. 3, 1902 in Claiborne County, Miss., to the late Franklin and Ollie Powell. He moved to Tallulah in 1924 and was associated in the grocery business for many years. He was later employed by the United Gas Company, from which he retired in 1967. He was a member of the Tallulah Methodist Church, serving until the time of his death on the board of stewards. He was member of the men's bible class. Mr. Powell is survived by his widow, Mrs. Angie Ball Powell. One daughter, Mrs. E. M. Midyett of Auburn, Ala. One son, Charles Edward Powell, Jr. of Helena, Ark.; three sisters, Mrs. Ruth Paterson, Miss Hazel Powell and Mrs. Erna McDonald, all of Tallulah; six grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews. Funeral services were held Friday morning at 10:00 a. m. in the First Methodist Church with Rev. Clark Bell officiating. Burial followed in the Providence Memorial Cemetery, under the direction of the Old Southern Mortuary. Pallbearers were: Harry Don Morton, Larry Goodman, George McDonald, Mack Naff, John Earl Martin, Merle Gustafson. Honorary Pallbearers were: John Holloway, T. H. Mounger, George Cummings, Jr., George Speed, W. M. Allen, W. C. Workman, Dr. Jacob Storey, W. P. Cagnolatti, Methodist Men's Bible Class, all nephews of the deceased and all other friends of the family.
