Pope - Madison Parish, Louisiana From Tallulah Madison Journal, April 17, 1961 Services Held For Jesse M. Pope Service was held Wednesday at 3 p. m. at the Young's Funeral Chapel for Jesse M. Pope, 75, who died at his home on Bear Lake Road Tuesday. A resident of Madison Parish for the past 35 years, Mr. Pope was formerly of Sandy Hook, Miss. He was a member of the Baptist Church, and a Woodman of the World. Rev. Clyde Williams pastor of the Baptist Church at Louisville, Miss., officiated. Burial in Silver Cross Cemetery. He is survived by his wife; two sons, Maurice Pope of Tallulah, and Garland Pope of Charleston, Tenn.; one daughter, Mrs. C. B. Dupree of Shreveport; three brothers, Chester Pope of Springhill, La., Lamar Pope of Laurel, Miss., and Spurgeon Pope of Pritchard, Miss., five sisters, Mrs. T. W. Roberts of Jackson, La. Mrs. M. S. Rolls of Baton Rouge, Mrs. Kelland Ward of Ferriday, Mrs. C. F. Dunnam of Santa Monica, Calif., and Mrs. Jessie Morgan of Mobile, Ala. He is survived by eight grandchildren. Pallbearers were Gaines Byram, Jack Ward, Dick Horn, Claude Grimes, Robert W. Gandy, Ernest Givens, Louis Buckner, Clark Brown, W. A. Covington. Honorary pallbearers were Dr. H. E. Kelleum, Dr. A. Street, C. E. Goss, Jerome Minsky, Lester Saiwitz, Myron Erwin, Ira H. Erwin, E. H. Erwin, Jr., Alton Shows, R. E. Russ, Crayton Laughman, W. A. Smith, Wesley Reardon, Johnny O'Shea, John Burchardt, M. A. Wroten, and Jim Goza.
