Pierson - Madison Parish, Louisiana From Monroe News-Star December 24, 1933 TALLULAH, La., Dec. 23 — (Special) — Will H. Pierson, 60, for a number of years a merchant of this city, died at his home on Friday night. He is survived by his widow and one daughter, Mrs. H. W. Lee. He was a member of the Episcopal church of this city. From Madison Journal December 29, 1933 Will H. Pierson Dies, Last Rites Held Saturday Deceased Was One of Oldest Merchants In Parish Funeral services for Will H. Pierson, age 64, one of the oldest merchants of Madison parish, were held Saturday afternoon at the family home with burial in the Silver Cross cemetery. The Rev. David E. Holt, Episcopal rector, officiated. He died shortly after 9 o'clock Friday night, having been ill for over a year when he retired from business. The deceased came to Madison parish about 1895 and had been connected with mercantile establishments. At one time he had a store in the old government building now occupied by Ziegler-Darrow company, in the Snyder Block and finally in the Spencer block. At first he had a general mercantile store and later a dry goods business. He was married to Lottie Graves in Vicksburg on April 20, 1898. They lived in Tallulah throughout their married life. He was born in Natchitoches, lived a time in Shreveport and for a short time attended school in Virginia. He was the son of Edwin L. Pierson and the former Harriet Biossat. He was a Mason and a member of the Episcopal Church. Pallbearers were E. A. Beers, Perry Folk, C. E. Speed, R. R. Taylor, W. L. Rountree and A. J. Sevier. He is survived by his wife; a daughter, Mrs. H. W. Lee; a granddaughter, Lottie Louise Lee; a sister, Miss Florence Pierson, all of Tallulah; surviving first cousins include E. A. Beers and Miss Annette Beers of Tallulah; Mrs. Julian Ostendorf, Will Levy, Clyde Levy, Mahlon Levy of Shreveport, and Charles Levy of New York.
