All rights reserved. ************************************************************************************************ Harriet Hulbert Pierson - Madison Parish, Louisiana From Tallulah Madison Journal, October 25, 1957 Funeral Services For Mrs. Pierson Held Here Monday Mrs. Percy (Harriet Hulbert) Pierson was buried here Monday morning at 10 o'clock in Silver Cross Cemetery in the family lot, with the Rev. Wm. S. Spilman, officiating. Mrs. Pierson's death occurred last Thursday, October 17 in Albuquerque, N. M., where she has made her home for some time. Services were held in Albuquerque by the local Episcopal minister and the remains sent to Tallulah. Mrs. Pierson came to Tallulah, a bride in 1912, with her husband, Percy Howell Pierson, a planter for many years in Madison Parish. After his death in 1925, Mrs. Pierson continued to operate the plantation (now the Edgar Lancaster place) for three years. She left in 1928 to make her home with an old friend in Hope, Ark., and from there they went to Albuquerque, N. M., where she has lived since. She last visited Tallulah about two years ago. While Mrs. Pierson made her home here she was a social favorite, entering into the social and civic activities, and has many warm friends who are saddened by her passing. She is survived by two sisters, Mrs. Flo Morehouse and Mrs. Carlton Wertz, and one brother, Mr. Edward Herlbert, all of Buffalo, N. Y., and her niece here, Mrs. Horace Lee, and a great niece, Mrs. Catchings Smith of Jackson, Miss. Pallbearers were Mr. Hugh Gilbert of Memphis, Tenn, Mr. W. L. Rountree, Mr. W. P. Sevier, Mr. Don Sevier, Mr. W. B. Eisley and Mr. Maxwell Yerger.
