Pierce, Sr. - Madison Parish, Louisiana From Tallulah Madison Journal July 3, 1936 Local Citizen Dies Suddenly Monday Morning C. S. Pierce, Sr., for many years a leading citizen of Tallulah, died suddenly at the Vicksburg hospital Monday morning. Funeral services were conducted from the Methodist Church Tuesday morning at ten o'clock with Rev. C. Karlos Smith officiating, assisted by Nev. L. A. Materne. Interment was in Silver Cross cemetery. Acting pallbearers were A. F. Graves, M. A. Phillips, R. C. Leeves, Jesse Anderson, J. M. Yeates and G. H. Thompson. Honorary were Jas. R. Linton, Earle Read, T. H. Goza, W. G. Goza, J. A. Moberley and J. T. Watts. A native of Kentucky, Mr. Pierce has for a number of years been engaged in farming in Tensas and Madison parishes. Before that he taught school in the Phillippines. He was a Mason, a member of the board of stewards of the Methodist Church, and served for several years as superintendent of the Methodist Sunday School. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Elizabeth Pierce; a daughter, Mary; a son, Bill; and two brothers, W. C. Pierce of Manitou Springs, Colo., and George B. Pierce of Ludlow, Kentucky.
