Phillips - Madison Parish, Louisiana From Tallulah Madison Journal August 21, 1942 S. G. Phillips Dies Suddenly Wednesday After Operation S. J. Phillips, 68, Locomotive engineer for Chicago Mill & Lumber Company here, died suddenly Wednesday afternoon from complication developing after an operation for appendicitis. Mr. Phillips was reported to have had a ruptured appendix for which he was operated on about a week ago in a Vicksburg hospital, and was apparently recovering when he was suddenly stricken Wednesday. He had lived in Tallulah for several years. He is survived by his wife and daughter, Dorothy of Tallulah, and two daughters, Steva and Mildred of Pine Buff, Ark. and three brothers, Dick of Beaumont, Tex, Jeff, of Conroe. Tex., and Charles of Paducah and a sister, Mrs. P. E Mason, also of Paducah, Ky. Funeral services will be held from the Baptist Church in Tallulah this (Friday) afternoon at two o'clock with Rev. Clarence Crow officiating. Interment will follow in the Silver Cross Cemetery.
